System Mechanic 8® Goes Beyond Ordinary Registry Cleaners

iolo’s 3-step Registry Optimization Keeps Old PCs Running Like New

LOS ANGELES, CA — August 25, 2008 — iolo technologies recently introduced its unique 3-step approach to registry repair and maintenance. Included in the award-winning PC tune-up products System Mechanic 8 and System Mechanic 8 Professional®, this technology offers a thorough optimization of the registry that is significantly more effective than basic registry cleaning.

“Standard registry cleaners were created to repair errors in the registry, but clearing out faulty entries does not completely fix the problem and it does not restore the registry to like-new efficiency,” reports Kraig Lane, iolo’s Director of Product Management. “Even after cleaning, the registry may still be over-inflated and fragmented — and PC performance is still negatively impacted.”

New System Mechanic 8 offers more than just basic registry cleaning. The complete registry optimization in System Mechanic not only fixes errors, but also compacts and removes the excess space and defragments and organizes the registry — the result is the maximum level of registry performance that goes far beyond that of ordinary registry cleaners.

System Mechanic 8’s Three-Step Approach

Most registry cleaners only clean the registry, but to effectively stabilize and speed up the PC, the registry must also be kept organized and at its minimum size.

  1. Fix errors and clean out obsolete entries. System Mechanic detects and removes registry errors and cleans out old and unused settings.
  2. Defragment and reorganize the registry. System Mechanic organizes all the scattered pieces of the registry files and consolidates them for faster registry processing.
  3. Compact and remove unused bloat space. System Mechanic removes dead and wasted space in the registry to speed up the PC and free up vital RAM.

Defragmenting and compacting run the next time the PC is restarted, before the operating system loads — iolo’s research has shown this method to be the most reliable and much safer than running the processes within Windows. All stages offer a user-friendly, color-coded presentation so that users can easily see the state of their registry’s health. And to complete the set of registry management tools, System Mechanic includes a full registry backup and restoration function, a crucial safeguard in case of PC disaster. Registry backups can be run on-demand or can be set to automatically run on a recurring basis.

Convenience of Automated Registry Optimization

With iolo’s patent-pending ActiveCare™ technology, consumers can keep the registry at peak performance by automating all stages of the optimization process. ActiveCare automatically detects negative changes in registry performance and will repair, defragment, and compact the registry as needed.

Here again, System Mechanic distinguishes itself from other tune-up products: rather than running on a set time schedule (which is usually either insufficient or superfluous), ActiveCare maximizes efficiency and eliminates the frustration of interrupted work by running tune-up actions only when needed and only when the PC is not in use.

PC Tune-Up Experts with 10+ Years Experience

As part of iolo’s ongoing effort to inform consumers about the latest PC tune-up issues, the company recently released the white paper, “Registry Optimization: Beyond Registry Cleaning”. Drawing from a knowledgebase of research, the paper is written in layman’s terms and answers common questions about the registry and how it can be safely repaired and optimized. This white paper is freely available for download.

System Mechanic has been cleaning and repairing Windows registries for over 10 years. With an expertise gained through years of testing and refining its technology, iolo offers the assurance of stability and safety that is important for any product that repairs the critical registry. And as it has done since inception, System Mechanic provides much more than registry optimization. Ranked by NPD Intellect as the world’s #1-selling PC tune-up product, System Mechanic’s one integrated package of over 40 diagnostic, repair, and optimization tools continues to receive prominent industry awards.
